About The Firm
Mr. Sturgeon founded the the firm to provide comprehensive
trademark representation. His
20 years of experience includes work with a major Washington, DC law firm
and with corporate legal departments. With this experience he has been able to
design the firm to provide many of the advantages of
a large law firm while maintaining the efficiency and flexibility of a smaller
firm.
He believes that as the practice of law has evolved (with the increasing importance of computerization, on-line legal research facilities, telecommunications and the Internet), smaller law firms can assist clients very efficiently and effectively – often more economically and effectively than large firms. Mr. Sturgeon provides the solid core of the law firm’s operations in Washington, DC. This core of expertise is then supplemented with associations with other attorneys.
Mr. Sturgeon is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and has earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Oklahoma, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver and has completed the Internet Law Program at Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Cyberspace Law Working Committee of the American Bar Association and the Computer Law and Intellectual Property sections of the District of Columbia Bar Association. Other affiliations and activities include membership in the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Oklahoma and Massachusetts .
His articles have been published in industry magazines, and he has given numerous presentations at conferences and seminars. For example, he was honored to be asked to give a presentation about trademark issues on the internet to the annual meeting of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He has also given presentations to a Capitol Hill conference sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Small Business and to a United Nations Task Force working on Internet policies and governance issues.

Disclaimer: Results vary, of course, and depend upon many factors unique to each case. The case results described here do not guarantee or predict a similar result in your case or in any future case undertaken by our firm. Since the states in which we are licensed have not established specialty certification procedures, we cannot describe our lawyers as being state-certified specialists. However, since we limit our practice to trademark and business matters, we have developed expertise in trademark issues. Legal services are not provided by this firm to residents of Virginia.
